Our Super Bowl & Our Time for a Revolution

Today is Super Bowl Sunday.  Millions of Americans will be riveted in front of their TVs as they watch the New Orleans Saints battle the Indianapolis Colts.

Today I also woke up to an article about Sarah Palin, who delivered a speech last night and claimed that "America is ready for a another revolution".

As I thought about these two epic events,

Tiger Woods has proven his humanity and has admitted his "messing up" to the whole world.  The purpose of this post is not to condemn or judge Tiger Woods.

Freedom from Life Dysfunctions

Everyone has successes that have turned into failures.  Successes that have turned into failures, I call Life Dysfunctions.  Everyone has Life Dysfunctions. 

It doesn't matter what has caused your dysfunctions.  Your dysfunctions could be the result of your genetic makeup, your personality, your familial environment, your educational experiences, your government's interventions or your living in a depressed economy.

What matters is what you do about your dysfunctions! 

Do you continue to pursue past successes even though you are continuing to fail? 

Do you continue to think about your life in a feeling good way, when you are feeling discouraged and disappointed?

Do you continue to grieve and complain about the losses in your life?

Do you want freedom from your Life Dysfunctions or do you want to remain stuck in misery?  It does not matter what your particular dysfunction is.  What matters is that you make changes.

If you want freedom from Life Dysfunctions, it is important to make new choices.  Sometimes, you may not know what you need to do to change.  As a result, you do nothing.

The Freedom Choice from The North Star Mental Fitness Program has been crafted to help you become free from your dysfunction.  When you don't know what needs to be done, make a Freedom Choice. 

With the Freedom Choice you prepare your mind for making functional changes and choices in your life.  You begin by thinking the thought "I want freedom from" your dysfunction.  Just by thinking that you want freedom from your dysfunction, you will begin to make new choices.

Willingness and Willpower

Do you need willingness, willpower or both in order to achieve your goals?

What is essential for success?  For years we have heard that willpower is necessary to reach our goals.  Willpower has been defined as the "resolution or the ability to control one's behavior" in order to reach a goal.

At MizFit the concept of willingness was suggested as an alternative to having willpower.  Willingness was described as "being willing to do whatever is necessary" in order to reach one's goal.

Willingness is certainly a refreshing concept.  It focuses on one's freedom of choice and attitude.

As I thought about these two concepts, I realized that both will be necessary in order to reach our goals.

While both willingness and willpower are important ingredients for success, both can be difficult to maintain in the pursuit of success.

Mental fitness training strengthens and supports our focus, willingness, and willpower.  Mental fitness training is the foundation providing life support for our willingness and willpower. 

The essence of mental fitness training is to motivate us to take care of ourselves and provide the powerful thought processes to maintain willingness and willpower.

A strong motive and commitment to take care of ourselves is the prerequisite and necessary ingredient for maintaining willingness and willpower.

Having the right mindset is extremely important for overcoming difficult times.  When difficult times occur, we can feel devastated, betrayed, angry, depressed, confused and overwhelmed.  These are normal feelings and reactions to difficult times.  Oftentimes, these understandable emotions interfere and can actually prevent us from successfully overcoming difficult times.  We must make certain that are painful emotions don't neutralize our ability to set successful goals.

Learning to think for success and overcome painful emotions is necessary for overcoming difficult times.  In this post I would like to have you consider 24 keys for overcoming difficult times.

The first nine keys were written by Alvin Soon and were entitled 9 Keys For Overcoming Difficult Times.  The next 15 keys were written by me and are the major systematic, thought processes for success in my North Star Mental Fitness Program.

“ What Is the Bridge Over Troubled Economical Times?

Remember Simon and Garfunkel's famous song Bridge over Troubled Waters!

Most of us are now looking for a bridge over our bad economic times.  We look outside of ourselves for the magical bridge or the guru to lead us to the promised land.  Sometimes we look in the wrong places.  Today , let us look inside of ourselves to find the bridge over depressing economic times and are pressing mood resulting from the economy.

 Bad economical times has spread throughout our country and the world.  Bad economical times will be shared by all of us, unfortunately.

The question is:  How will the bad economical times effect you? 

For many people who do not practice the power of thinking and good mental fitness, the depressing economy will depress their psyche and mood.  There is no doubt that the economy is depressing.  Therefore, shouldn't they be depressed?

Even though the economy is depressing, we do not have to be depressed.  We do not need to allow external circumstances and problems depress us!

When people become depressed over depressing occurrences in their life like the depressing economy, unconsciously they are using "because of" thinking.  "Because of thinking" is logical and shows no regard for our mental state.  "Because of thinking" is automatic.  Obviously for many people, they will be depressed because of the depressing economy.  They may never even question why they have to be depressed, when the economy falls apart.

When our economic times are bad, the power of good mental fitness becomes strikingly clear.  A person with good mental fitness realizes they have freedom of choice even in bad circumstances.  "In spite of" thinking thinking can replace "because of" thinking.

When we think "in spite of" the bad economy, we can take control our lives, our mood and even our economics.  For example, we can think "in spite of" the bad economy, we are happy, successful, wealthy, etc. 

"In spite of" the bad economy, we can focus on the what we are grateful for rather than what we have lost. 

"In spite of" the bad economy, we can focus on finding opportunities rather than dwelling on the problems in economic areas of our lives.

"In spite of" thinking can turn our problems into successes and can become the bridge over troubled waters in our lives!
