It is time again to make New Year's resolutions. At this time of year, we are motivated to Break Bad Habits. In order to help you make resolutions for breaking bad habits, I have reviewed the following blogs.
Adam Voiland of U.S. News and World Report explained why we make bad choices even when we know better in his article, "Want to Break a Bad Habit? Try This". Adam explained that we sometimes make bad choices because we want immediate gratification and do what is easiest. He wrote the answer is to "build systems into your life that reward healthy choices or make healthy choices more convenient than unhealthy choices".
Adam encouraged us to not forbid ourselves or others from making bad choices and to not punish ourselves or others for making bad choices. "We know, in fact, stress and negative emotions often lead to things like binge eating, drug relapse and emotional buying. Incentives work much better." I believe Adam's ideas are excellent ways to neutralize the effects of the "innate human defiance," which was listed as one of the reasons "Why It's so Hard to Break Bad Habits," which was an article written by Jeanna Bryer for Fox News.com.

Success Is a Journey, Not a Destination!
Ben Sweetland's quotation as indicated in the Famous Quotes and Quotations.com on Success is so important to remember.
Yesterday, I had the opportunity of talking to a woman and her husband. She was very concerned about the chaos created by her alcoholic mother. Today, I went to sort out different forms of fitness. Sometimes it can become confusing in understanding fitness concepts. Cognitive fitness has different meanings, depending on the orientation of the writer.
Physical Fitness is probably the most familiar and recognized form of fitness.
Cognitive fitness has become very popular during the last 10 years due to the remarkable research on the neuroplasticity of the brain.
Also the importance of cognition in changing feelings, behavior and coping with problems in everyday living has been the basis of many psychological forms of therapy and programs for change people's lives.
Realizing, I am risking oversimplification, I would like to sort out the meaning of various forms of fitness.

A child will have viewed 8000 murders and 100,000 acts of television violence by the time they are 11 years old (National Television violence study) as reported by the American Psychological Association Help Center.
These statistics are unbelievable and not acceptable. How can children not unconsciously be influenced by all this violence? How can children not learned that violence is acceptable, when they are entertained by so much violence? How can we stop children identifying with violent people, when they are inundated with examples of violent people?
From my perspective it is not just enough to teach children that violence is unacceptable and wrong. It is also very important to teach values and behavior that are inconsistent with violence.
