I love this poem Lloyd Carr shared at his press conference, when he announced his retirement from coaching the University of Michigan Football team. Coach Carr's tenure as the leader of the U of M football team reflected the essence of this poem. Pakenham Beatty, an Irish poet, wrote the poem:
"By your own soul learn to live.
If some men thwart you, take no heed.
If some men hate you, have no care.
Sing your song, dream your dream.
Hope your hope and pray your prayer".
I thank The M Zone, College Football Forum for blogging about this poem.
This poem says it all for us. A wonderful description of the essence of living a focused, goal-directed, passionate and centered life.
Remember, We Live Within the Environment Created by Our Choices.

I love this poem, I have read it before, being an Irish Lass, and I love poetry. I am going to try to "one up you" on this one, and it has nothing to do with FOOTBALL! Sorry Hal :-). Here goes...
People are often unreasonable and self-centered, forgive them anyway.
If you are kind, people may accuse you of ulterior motives, be kind anyway.
If you are honest, people may cheat you, be honest anyway.
If you find happiness, people may be jealous, be happy anyway.
The good you do today may be forgotten tomorrow, do good anyway.
Give the world the best you have and it may never be enough, give your best anyway.
For you see, in the end it is between you and God.
It was never between you and them anyway!
Mother Theresa
It's not really a poem, just the thoughts of the most genuine Woman in the world...May She rest in peace. If only one half of the world could live the way she did, what would life be like today? And, Happy Holidays to All.
