Planting Daffodils in Your Life

Karen from Live the Power has a motivating story for all of us.  She entitled her work Daffodil.  Karen shared with her readers the story of Alma (Gene) and her husband Dale Bauer, who created a masterpiece of daffodils in the San Bernadino mountainside.I

"It is the story of how one woman took one step at a time and created a glorious masterpiece of beauty for the world to enjoy", reported Karen.  Take time to enjoy the daffodils in The Daffodil Garden.

Gene not only planted daffodils on the mountainside.  Visit The Daffodil Garden and let her plant ideas in your mind.

I imagine that most people never would've thought of  planting a mountainside with daffodils, but she did.

I imagine that most people would have discouraged her from such a big undertaking, but she was not discouraged.

In 1958 Gene began planting daffodils on the rocky mountainside.  On their five acres, over one million bulbs had been planted.  The beauty of the garden is not an accident.  Gene Bauer attributed the magnificent garden to planting each bulb “one at a time, by one woman, two hands, two feet, and a very little brain”.

We can learn from Gene that we can create beauty in our lives by planting seeds millions of time in the rocky, crevices of our mind.

The Bauer's had a wonderful quote from John Ruskin: "When love and skill work together, expect a masterpiece".  The Bowers were described as miracle workers for creating a masterpiece of flowers in the mountains.  You can be a miracle worker in your life by making choices to grow in the rocky parts of your life.

In 1999 a fire spread through the mountainside burning down their residence.  They built their new home.  "Hope  it is said, never dies within the heart of a real gardener ".  Miraculously, the flowers survived the fire and bloomed the next year with all of their beauty.

We can generalize from nature that daffodils planted in our minds survive and bring beauty back into our lives after times of disaster.

Where you think you have barren mountainsides in your life, you can create beauty.  A beauty that will survive misfortunes and disasters.  You can create beauty and joy for yourself and others.

Remember, You Live within the Environment (barren mountains or gardens) Created by Your Choices!
