Four Miraculous Phrases
Two of the empowering and miraculous phrases were eloquently presented by Shama Hyder in her post, "I am Sorry, Please Forgive Me. You are right, if you guessed two of the phrases are "I am Sorry" and "Please Forgive Me".
Aaron Potts from Today Is That Day introduced the other two unbelievably powerful statements in his blog, Do You Ho'oponopono? The other two powerful and cleansing phrases are "I Love You" and "Thank You".
Why did I call these phrases miraculous?
1. These words are powerful. Shama Hyder pointed out the powerfullness of these words in this quote from her blog:
"I am sorry" and "Please forgive me" are two of the most powerful statements in our language. They are tools of empowerment. You are not becoming a victim when you say those sentences. You are taking back your power because you realize that you are the creator of your own experiences. You are not apologizing because you were wrong or because you feel guilty. The "I am sorry" is a way of putting the ego aside, and of letting your higher self neutralize the thought that is causing you problems.
I believe all four phases are very powerful, when both directed towards oneself and towards others.
2. These words are cleansing. Aaron Potts pointed out these four affirmations have a cleansing function in Ho'oponopono. These words can cleanse painful memories and associated disturbing emotions and troubling thoughts.
3. These words are expressions of values. Interpersonal conflicts escalate, often times, when feelings and opinions are expressed. Expressions of values on the other hand reduce conflicts. My mental fitness programs are based on the expression of values rather than expressions of emotions or opinions, when there is potential for conflict in a relationship.
4. These words are historically and spiritually avenues for experiencing divine intervention in your life. Deborah King in her blog, Beyond Traditional Means - Ho'oponopo, quoted Morrnah Simeona as saying: "The main purpose of this process is to discover the Divinity within oneself".
These words are miraculous in releasing people from painful memories, emtions and thoughts. These words are miraculous in terms of healing the body as indicated in the blog, Ho'oponopono. These words are miraculous in healing and actualizing healthy relationships.
For those with a belief in their higher power, these words become a conduit for expression of their higher power. I believe that most religions value these four miraculous phrases. For those who do not believe in a higher power, these words can still have a miraculous effect on one's own identity as well as changing their environment.
- I am sorry,
- Please forgive me,
- I love you, and
- Thank you
can be miraculous words for you.

I have seen ho'oponopono in use amoung local friends, neighbors and counseling and community groups here on Oahu. It not only brings healing, it enriches the lives of all who learn and practice it. I'm always happy to find others embracing it. The world could learn a lot from the ancient Hawaiian cultural practices.

Dr. Hal:
Great advice! I've found these phrases to be both empowering and healing for me and my coaching clients as well.
