Differences Between Coaching, Therapy & Mental Fitness Training
The Differences Between Therapy, Coaching and Mental Fitness Training
Mental Fitness Training , Coaching and Therapy are really different. Sometimes it is easier to explain the differences by using an analogy.
If life is like a ball of yarn, therapy helps you unravel the tangles. Coaching helps you knit a sweater. Mental fitness training provides the needles for knitting the sweater.
I added the last sentence to the original analogy regarding therapy and coaching. Where did the original quote come from?
Laura Young of The Dragon Slayer's Guide to Life found a wonderful analogy in an article written by Vikki Cornwell of the Cox News Service and reproduced in the Chicago Tribune.
Atlanta Life Coach, Nancy Birnbaum-Gerber of Stepping Stones shared this analogy with the Cox News writer.
Why did I add the last sentence to the original quote? In order to knit a sweater you need supplies such as needles and a hooks.
No matter what you do in life, you need the tools to be successful. Don't you have a toolbox for making repairs around your home or on your vehicles? Aren't there tools for almost everything we do?
Tools do not have to be something you buy in a hardware store. Tools do not have to be made out of metal, plastic, wood or woven material.
What we learn in school are tools. Reading, writing and arithmetic are tools. Our lives are a lot better when we have these tools and use them appropriately.
Thoughts can be tools. Thoughts can heal or destroy our lives as written by Kenneth Pelletier in Mind As Healer, Mind As Slayer.
The North Star Mental Fitness Program is an organized system of thoughts that function like tools to make repairs in people's lives. There are enough tools in The North Star Mental Fitness Tools to make minor repairs, major additions and complete renovations in your life. These tools are also sufficient for building a new life as designed by you.
I added the sentence to the original analogy to remind people that tools and a system are necessary for knitting a sweater. Secondly, I wanted to inform you that there are tools available for knitting your life as you desire.
Remember, You Live within the Environment Created by Your Choices!
