After Death Do Us Part
"Till death do us part" has turned into "after death do us part" for this strong woman weakened by the loss of her love.
Their marriage had mountains and deep valleys. At the time of his death, their relationship was peaking way above the clouds. The wall between them had crumbled. Life was good.
The newness of rekindled love, passion and hope pulsating through her. Then, unexpectedly, he died in her arms. Her frantic attempts to breathe life into him failed.
Today, we talked about the loss of her husband. A man who had been living on borrowed time. A man with a broken neck similar to the injury suffered by Christopher Reeves.
Her husband was a man of immense stature, compassion and charisma. He had a calming presence and persona. He had become free of his shackles prior to his death.
She had completely reoriented her life, after her husband's broken neck and his inability to work. She persisted in loving her husband and her love rekindled hope, confidence and love in her husband.
Once again, they were together and connected. Now they are separated by death.
She continues to work and touch the lives of those around her.. However, at night she lives in the shadow of their relationship, feeling the love and feeling the loss.
I shared with her Richard Machowicz's affirmation "I'm not dead, I can't quit". Richard Mackowicz who is the Navy seal who used this affirmation to successfully complete his missions. His book is Unleash The Warrior Within.
Going on without her husband sometimes is so arduous and lonely. Nevertheless, she realizes she can't quit. Because she has learned too much and experienced too much with her husband, she won't quit!
This woman and her husband centered their life around their belief in God. Since her husband's death and during the darkness of night, sometimes she has difficulty facing tomorrow. After talking about her new life, we talked about the power of her religious convictions and beliefs.
The words of the Gaither song, "Because He Lives" came to mind: "Because He lives, I can face tomorrow. Because He lives, all fear is gone". The message is clear. Because she and her God lives, she can face tomorrow.
There's power in spirituality to overcome fear, anxiety and loneliness. Spirituality is not inconsistent with mental fitness.
Mentally fit people are strong enough to realize their need for spirituality. Mentally fit people have the courage, passion and commitment to live a spiritual life, When going through the mountains and valleys in your life, don't lose the spiritual connection in your life.
Remember, You Live within the Environment Created by Your Choices!
